Joan (Carroll) Stanford, 88, of Willington, CT, wife of the late Carrington M. Stanford, Jr., passed away on Monday, April 4, 2022. She was born in Hartford, CT, daughter of the late Jesse and Jessie (Stephens) Carroll. Joan worked as a kitchen supervisor for many years at the Mansfield State Training School. She was an avid fan of the New York Yankees, and enjoyed bowling, cooking, sewing and gardening. Joan always had a great sense of humor, and loved to laugh with family and friends. Joan is survived by her four children, Carrington M. Stanford and his wife Valerie of Clinton, ME, Kathy Carey of Weatogue, CT, Lori Stanford and her husband John Tyburski of Tolland, CT, and Jon Stanford and his wife Nancy of Willington, CT; son-in-law, Tim Nicholson of Stafford Springs, CT; eleven grandchildren; ten great grandchildren; brother, Roy “Butch” Carroll and his wife Winona; several nieces and nephews; and her beloved dog, Maggie. She was predeceased by her son, William Stanford; daughter, Dodi Nicholson; and six siblings, Homer, Lorene, Lucille, Molly, Constance, and Jesse, Jr. A calling hour will be held on Thursday, April 7, 2022 from 12-1 P.M., with a funeral service to take place at 1 P.M., at Introvigne Funeral Home, Inc., 51 East Main St., Stafford Springs, CT.
