Sadie Greene

Sadie M. Greene, 90, of Sarasota, FL and formerly of Stafford Springs, CT, beloved wife of the late John C. Greene, Jr., passed away on Thursday, April 3, 2008 at Manor Care Nursing Home, Sarasota, FL. She was born in New Brunswick, Canada, Daughter of the late Jonathan and Mary (Morrison) Myers. Sadie was raised in Orono, ME and moved to Connecticut after marrying. They lived on Somers Mountain while John was the State Forester for this region before moving to their own home on Buckley Highway in Stafford Springs. They were married 52 years before his death in 1986. Sadie was on the Board of Education for the Town of Stafford for many years, was active in many town activities, a member of the Eastern Star, the Grange and was the Superintendent of the Staffordville Congregational Church Sunday School for many, many years. She was also very active at the Stafford Senior Center while she lived in Stafford. She leaves behind a son, Ralph Greene and wife Twila of Maine, daughters Peggy Cobb and husband Robert of Sarasota, FL, Carolyn Taylor and husband Garrison of Hampstead, NC, son, John C. Greene III and wife Madeleine of Stafford Springs, CT, and daughter Susan Greene of Stafford Springs, CT. She also has numerous grandchildren, great grandchildren, and great-great grandchildren that she loved very much, as well as nieces and nephews that stayed close to her. Family was the most important thing in our mothers life, and there was very little she didn?t do for any of us. She loved children, and spent hours helping not only her own, but any others she came in contact with. She loved her friends, who we know will miss her very much. She made her home with Peggy and Bob in Sarasota, FL during her illness and was constantly surrounded by family and much love while she was there. Her funeral service will be held on Friday, April 11, 2008 at 10 A.M. at Introvigne Funeral Home, Inc., 51 East Main St., Stafford Springs, CT. Burial will follow in Stafford Springs Cemetery, Stafford Springs, CT. A calling hour will be held on Friday from 9-10 A.M. at the funeral home prior to the service.
