Alba Hotkowski's Obituary
Alba (Lazzaris) Hotkowski, 96, formerly of Stafford Springs, CT and Vernon, CT, beloved wife of the late Edward J. Hotkowski, passed away on Saturday, September 25, 2010 at her home in Ridgefield, CT. Born in Stafford Springs, CT, she was the daughter of the late Luigi and Vittoria (Scussel) Lazzaris. In her early years, Alba attended local schools before graduating from Buckley High School in Hartford, CT. Having majored in the Classics at American International College (Class of 1935), she taught Latin and English at Stafford High School. In 1953, Alba received her Master of Arts degree in Guidance and Counseling from the School of Education at the University of Connecticut. She was a pioneer in establishing a school guidance program in the Manchester School System (Bennet Junior High School) and worked in the school counseling program until her retirement in 1971. She and her late husband, Ed, spent most of their retirement years traveling and enjoying their seasonal residence in North Truro, MA on Cape Cod. A brother, Peter Lazzaris, and her sister, Rita Uricchio, predeceased her. She is survived by her nephew, Marc Uricchio and his family of Ridgefield, CT.
