Allen "Tony" Hower's Obituary
Allen Anthony "Tony" Hower, 63, of Union, CT, husband of the late Wendy (Messeck) Hower, passed away peacefully with his family on Tuesday, November 15, 2011 at Johnson Memorial Hospital, Stafford Springs, CT. He was born in Allentown, PA, son of the late Allen A. and Irene (Dreier) Hower. Tony served his country in the U.S. Army Reserves during the Vietnam Era, and retired from the State of Connecticut as a maintenance worker. In his younger years, Tony enjoyed being a lifeguard and had always enjoyed swimming. After retirement, he had worked as a salesman for various companies. He was also a member of the National Rifle Association. Tony is survived by his two children, Allen Anthony Hower, Jr. of Mansfield, CT, and Jessica Hanley-Thomas of Stafford Springs, CT; two grandsons, Kaleb and Gianni Thomas; brother, Justin Hower; mother-in-law and father-in-law, Terrie and Albert Saunders; special cousin, Suzanne Miles; close friends, Debbie Mead and Mike Arrowood; and many other friends and extended family members. His funeral will be held on Friday, November 18, 2011, with a procession forming by 10 A.M. at Introvigne Funeral Home, Inc., 51 East Main St., Stafford Springs, CT, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 11 A.M. at St. Edward Church, High St., Stafford Springs, CT. Burial with Military Honors will follow in St. Edward Cemetery, Stafford Springs, CT. Calling hours are on Thursday from 6-8 P.M. at the funeral home.
