Anita W. Mihaliak's Obituary
Anita W. (Thiesing) Mihaliak, 76, of Willington, CT, loving wife of 40 years to the late William J. Mihaliak, Sr., died at home on Monday, October 1, 2018, surrounded by her two daughters. She was born in Stafford, CT at Johnson Memorial Hospital, daughter of the late Rudolph and Freda Thiesing, and resided in Stafford, CT until she was married, and then spent the rest of her life at the family farm in Willington, CT, Mihaliak Dairy Farm. Anita graduated from Becker College with an Associate's Degree in accounting. She worked at Aetna in Hartford, CT, and then became a lifelong dairy farmer upon marriage. Since 2003, she has been a full-time hay and beef farmer, providing a quality product for thousands of animals. Her husband inspired her love for agriculture and farming. She passed that same love onto her children and grandchildren, while teaching them to be hard workers just like she was. The favorite place to be for the grandkids in the summer was on the farm learning to love agriculture, animals, and the land just as the previous generations had before them. Anita’s greatest joy was chatting with Taylor about her life, having Dustin come down the farm at the drop of a dime to do something for her at the farm, playing cards with William, and watching Emily do gymnastics on anything and everything. Anita is survived by her two daughters and two son-in-laws, Jean M. and Anthony Hurd of Union, CT, and Brenda and Erick Wildes of Farmington, CT; and a son, William Mihaliak of Stafford, CT. In her “retirement” she enjoyed spending time with her four grandchildren, Taylor, Dustin, William, and Emily. She was predeceased by her husband, William J. Mihaliak, Sr., in 2010. Her funeral will be held on Thursday, October 4, 2018, with a procession forming by 10 A.M. at Introvigne Funeral Home, Inc., 51 East Main St., Stafford Springs, CT, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 11 A.M. at St. Edward Church, 55 High St., Stafford Springs, CT. Burial will follow in St. Edward Cemetery, Stafford Springs, CT. Calling hours are on Wednesday, October 3, 2018 from 6 to 8 P.M. at the funeral home. Memorial donations may be made to the William and Anita Mihaliak Agricultural Memorial Scholarship, c/o Stafford Savings Bank, Attn: Rose Roszczewski, P.O. Box 25, Stafford Springs, CT 06076.
