Anna M.'s Obituary
Anna Maria Mis, 92, of Union, CT, passed away on Monday, December 10, 2012. She was born in Warsaw, Poland, daughter of Boleslaw Wicenty Mis, colonel of prewar II Polish Army and of Zofia Mis nee Mroczkowska. Her late brother, Stanislaw was a Polish underground fighter. Her prospective studies at The Chemical Engineering Department of Warsaw Polytechnic were interrupted by the outbreak of World War II in 1939. During the six years of Nazi occupation of Poland she worked as a maid and as a kindergarten teacher in Warsaw while learning accounting. Then, she worked as a town clerk in Skawina, Poland. After the war she worked as a cashier for the movie industry. In 1968, after the death of her mother, she joined her sister and her brother-in-law in the USA. She lived with them in Union, CT for 44 years. Initially she cleaned private houses and later she did maintenance work at the University of Connecticut form which she retired. She was a very kind, people loving person. Her whole life she was loved and cherished by people who knew her. She will be missed. She is survived by her sister and brother-in-law, Maria and Roman Solecki of Union, CT and cousins Lech Raczynski and Elzbieta Kurkowska of Poland. A calling hour will be held on Thursday, December 13, 2012 from 12-1 P.M. with a funeral service to take place at 1 P.M. at Introvigne Funeral Home, Inc., 51 East Main St., Stafford Springs, CT. Burial will be held privately in Union Center Cemetery, Union, CT. Memorial donations may be made to the Salvation Army, P.O. Box 1959, Atlanta, GA 30301.
