Anna Mae Burkey's Obituary
Anna Mae Burkey, 86, of Stafford Springs, CT and New Smyrna Beach, FL, passed away on Thursday, February 22, 2018. Anna Mae was born in Johnstown, PA on October 12, 1931 to the late Roy and Mabel (Vincent) Richardson. She was married to Melvin “Bud” Burkey, of South Fork, PA, who passed away December 14, 1981. Bud and Anna Mae moved to Connecticut in 1961 and raised six children in Stafford Springs, CT. Anna Mae is survived by five children and their spouses, Ruth and John Williams of Port Orange, FL, Sandra and Ric Bush of Daytona Beach, FL, Melvin and Brenda Burkey, Jr. of Manchester, CT, William and Charlotte Burkey of Stafford Springs, CT, and Tammy and Wayne Knight of Willington, CT; and her stepchildren, Michael O'Heare of Lebanon, PA, and Holly O'Heare of Glastonbury, CT. She is also survived by a brother, Roy Richardson of New Florence, PA; and has a large and loving family with 17 grandchildren, 35 great grandchildren, and a great, great grandchild. She was predeceased by her son Michael; loving companion, Michael Terry O'Heare; and three sisters, Evelyn Fisher, Ruth Guerra, and Mary Kush. Anna Mae retired from the State of Connecticut after 20 years of service at Mansfield Training School, Mansfield, CT. Upon retirement, Anna Mae and Terry moved to New Smyrna Beach, FL and were very happy in the beautiful sunshine state where they enjoyed going to flea markets and frequently traveled to Pennsylvania, Connecticut, and Vermont to see friends and relatives. Her funeral service will be held on Saturday, February 24, 2018 at 12 P.M. at Introvigne Funeral Home, Inc., 51 East Main St., Stafford Springs, CT. Burial will follow in Stafford Street Cemetery, Stafford Springs, CT. Calling hours are on Friday, February 23, 2018 from 5-8 P.M. at the funeral home.
