Arthur Fleckenstein's Obituary
Arthur J. Fleckenstein, 83, of Stafford Springs, CT, passed away on Saturday, February 13, 2010 at Mansfield Center for Nursing and Rehabilitation, Mansfield, CT. He was born in Brooklyn, NY, son of the late Joseph and Margaret (Hildebrandt) Fleckenstein. Art was a decorated U.S. Navy veteran of World War II with a rank of Electrician’s Mate Third Class. He was awarded the American Theater Medal, Asiatic-Pacific Theater Medal with two bronze stars, the Philippine Liberation Ribbon with one Bronze Star, the Purple Heart Medal, and the World War II Victory Medal. He retired as an electrician having worked at TYCO and with Dante Beffa-Negrini. Art is survived by his loving wife, Claire P. Rounds of Stafford Springs, CT; three children, Velvet Welch and her husband Edwin of Columbia, CT, Steven Fleckenstein of Idaho, and Carrie Theriault and her husband Glenn of Norwich, CT; nine grandchildren; twelve great grandchildren; two great, great grandchildren; two step children, Laurie Rounds and her husband Robert Crawley of Virginia, and Donald Rounds and his wife Lorelei of Somers, CT; three step grandchildren; seven step great grandchildren; a step great, great grandson; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins. He was predeceased by a daughter, Christine Henman; and a sister, Patricia Clark. Calling hours will be held on Wednesday, February 17, 2010 from 2-4 P.M. at Introvigne Funeral Home, Inc., 51 East Main St., Stafford Springs, CT 06076. Funeral services with burial in Long Island National Cemetery, Farmingdale, NY, will be held privately. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Stafford Fire Department No. 1, P.O.
