Bertha A. Lanagan's Obituary
Bertha A. (Bossie) Lanagan, an Angel, was called home to be with the Lord on Wednesday, January 4, 2023 at the Evergreen Health Care Center. She wished so much to be her her late husband Gordon A. Lanagan, Sr. (5-10-2003) in heaven. Bertha was the most devoted mother, sister, aunt, grandmother, great-grandmother and friend anyone could ask for. She deeply loved her family and all her friends. She was predeceased by a brother, Herbert J. Bossie, Jr., and also by a grandson, Nicolas S. Buccheri and son-in-law, Wayne J Chalou. Bertha is survived by her eight children: Georgette “Gigi” Chalou of China, ME; John (Rose) Schultz of Stafford Springs, CT; Deborah (Raymond) Chalou of Sierra Vista, AZ; Sharon (Chuck) Pippin of Oxford, ME; Karen (Mark) Buccheri of Stafford Springs, CT; Bonnie Sfreddo of Jacksonville, FL; Sherry Gregario of Stafford Springs, CT; and Gordon (Lynn) Lanagan, Jr. of Jacksonville, FL. She leaves a brother, Ronald (Roswitha) Bossie of Tolland, CT; 13 grandchildren; 19 great grandchildren; many nieces, nephews and cousins; and all her wonderful friends. She worked for many years with the Stafford Savings Bank and retired from there. She loved her job there and continued after the passing of her husband, Gordon. Bertha loved her Saturday night dances with the Paul Cierra Band, dancing the night away at many different locations wherever the band travelled, and her bingo nights at the American Legion in Stafford; the French Club and the Elks in Willimantic, CT. Her most favorite was the Casino Bingo at Foxwoods Casino. She really enjoyed listening to her brother play his saxophone with his Big Band Group. She loved to travel to watch the UCONN Men & Women's Basketball Games. Most of all she loved all family get-togethers with all her children, grandchildren, great grandchildren, and friends. The family would like to thank the staff at Evergreen Health Care Center for assisting with Mom's care.
