Beverly A. Stehlik's Obituary
Beverly (Noren) Stehlik, passed away on September 8, 2022. She was born on May 27, 1929 in Woodstock, Connecticut, first child of the late Charles Noren and Millicent (Dodge) Noren. She was predeceased by her husband, William Stehlik, Jr., and her brothers, Edward Noren and Richard Noren. After graduating from Woodstock Academy in 1947, Beverly briefly attended Willimantic State Teachers College (now Eastern Connecticut State University). She was employed as a secretary at American Optical in Southbridge, Massachusetts for several years. She married William Stehlik, Jr., in September 1949. They made their home in Woodstock Valley, where they raised five children. Beverly was a thrifty homemaker, an avid gardener, and an active member of the Church of the Good Shepherd in West Woodstock. She was an accomplished seamstress who was also proficient in knitting, crocheting, and rug-braiding. While her children were growing up, she served as an adult leader in the 4-H program. She enjoyed reading, jigsaw puzzles, crossword puzzles, and Scrabble. Beverly is survived by her children: Noreene Stehlik of Silver Spring, Maryland; Trina Stehlik of Weatogue, Connecticut; Cheryl Stehlik of Baltimore, Maryland; William Stehlik, III of Woodstock; and Krista Hrasar (Jerry) of Frederick, Maryland; and one grandchild, Ian Leach of Silver Spring. There will be a memorial service at the Church of the Good Shepherd at 1:00 P.M. on Saturday, October 15, 2022, with a reception immediately following. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Church of the Good Shepherd, or to the Charles, Millicent, and Richard Noren Scholarship Fund at the Woodstock Academy. The family wishes to thank the Day Kimball Hospice and Palliative Care team of Putnam, and home health aide Shelley Renaud, for their compassionate care during the last few weeks of Beverly’s life.
