Bruce A. DeTora's Obituary
Bruce Albert DeTora, 69, of Tolland, CT, passed away on Thursday, March 9, 2017 with his sister Alice and his nephew Adam and wife Liz by his side. He was born in Stafford Springs, CT, son of the late Dr. Albert and Dorothy (Warner) DeTora. A 1970 graduate of Harvard University, Bruce was an All-Time Letterwinner on the Harvard soccer team, relishing the Harvard/Brown rivalry when he played against his older brother Mark. Bruce retired from his position as Chief Financial Officer at the University of Connecticut in 2008 with 34 years of state service. He was an avid sports fan, including his favorites, the New York Yankees, Boston Celtics, and UConn Women’s Basketball, a voracious reader and a life-time soccer player, and could be seen daily walking the back roads of Tolland and Ellington. He is survived by his sister, Linda Huntington of New York, NY and Falkner Evans; his brother, Mark DeTora of West Palm Beach, FLA and his children, Tracy DeTora and Steve Wright, Michelle DeTora and Mike Cameron, Kerry DeTora and Chris Leavey, and Anthony DeTora; his brother, Dr. Kenneth DeTora and Dr. Nancy DeTora of Auburn, MA and their children, Lisa DeTora and Mike Goodchild, Dr. Michael and Dr. Andra DeTora, Dr. Adam DeTora and Dr. Liz Yu, and Ben DeTora; his sister, Alice DeTora of Sterling, CT and Gary Reynolds; his beloved grandnieces and grandnephew, Mabel, Gemma, Alice and Lucy Wright, Iris Cameron, and Bruce YuHan DeTora; and his second family Reka, John, John Michael and Liam Wrynn. Calling hours will be held on Sunday, March 12, 2017 from 2-4 P.M. at Introvigne Funeral Home, Inc., 51 East Main St., Stafford Springs, CT. Burial will take place privately.
