Bruno S. Lorenzet's Obituary
Bruno S. "Shany" Lorenzet, 97, of Stafford Springs, CT, died peacefully at home on July 15, 2018. Husband of the late Inez (Innocenzi) Lorenzet, he is undoubtedly reunited with her now in heaven, feasting happily again on the incredible pasta, polenta, and chicken dishes she was so known for in the Stafford area. Shany was born in Stafford Springs, CT, son of the late Amadeo and Adelaida (Tomasella) Lorenzet, early 20th century Italian immigrants. He was the youngest in a family of five kids, the only one born in the United States. His godfather was Attilio "Pop" Frassinelli, who went on to become Lieutenant Governor of Connecticut in the 1960s. Shany had a full and interesting life. A boy in the 1920s, he delivered ice to homes to keep food cool on hot summer days before refrigeration. A teenager, he picked tobacco and worked in logging, helping his family get through the Great Depression. A young man, he enlisted during World War II and served his country in India, Burma, and North Africa, rising to Staff Sergeant with the Ninth Photographic Reconnaissance Squadron, U.S. Army Air Corps. After the war, Shany got even busier. In short order, he married Inez, started a family, and set up his own business, Shany Photos, eventually becoming famous as the dean of stock car racing photographers at a number of New England tracks. Somehow he managed to find time to hold down a day job too as a mail carrier in the U.S. Postal Service, retiring in the 1980s. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus Council #1395 and a lifelong parishioner of St. Edward Church. He was also a charter member of the Stafford Fish and Game Club, and a member of both the Italian Benefit Society and the Stafford Senior Center. He is survived by two sons, Monte Lorenzet and his wife Becky of Cupertino, Calfornia, and Donald Lorenzet and his wife Lisa of Rye, New Hampshire; by his granddaughter, Julia Oher and her husband Jake; and by several nieces and nephews. His four sisters, Eliza, Alba, Rica, and Louise, had all passed away before him. The family deeply thanks the many loving caregivers who helped Bruno live his last years at home, especially Arlene, Linda B and Linda Y., Diane, Kay, Raquel, Maria, and Reggie. His funeral will be held on Thursday, July 19, 2018, with a procession forming by 9 A.M. at Introvigne Funeral Home, Inc., 51 East Main St., Stafford Springs, CT, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 A.M. at St. Edward Church, 55 High St., Stafford Springs, CT. Burial will follow in St. Edward Cemetery, Stafford Springs, CT. Calling hours are on Wednesday from 5-7 P.M. at the funeral home.
