Cecelia Farrington's Obituary
Cecelia (Buczek) Farrington passed away peacefully on January 14, 2013, just shy of her 99th birthday. She was born in Chicago Heights, Illinois, daughter of Thomas and Louise (Bartnicki) Buczek on February 12, 1914. When she was six years old, the family moved to a farm in New Milford, Connecticut because of her father's health. When she started school she could only speak Polish. She graduated from New Milford High School in 1933. Ceil enjoyed working at the Western View Farm Inn and as a nanny for the three young children of a local doctor. She had a special way with all children. She met her husband, Gilbert at a dance and they were married on October 25, 1941. Ceil and Gil moved to Willington when Gil accepted the position of herdsman at the University of Connecticut. They had their own herd of dairy cows as well and she worked hard as a homemaker and assisting with the barn chores. Ceil was also very active in the local Grange. She had many talents including a green thumb and a knack for arranging the most beautiful bouquets which always graced her table. She'd entertain children with the marble game, "making cookies" with homemade play dough and playing Rummy. Walks along the brook, sliding in the winter, flying kites, playing golf, and teaching the little ones the names of the various birds she loved to watch and feed were also cherished pastimes. Cecelia's raised dough with poppy seed filling was enjoyed by many and all will attest to the fact that she made the best cookies. Her son Gil lovingly called her "Deet", the neighbor children called her "Ting" and her Maine family and friends where she's lived with her son and daughter-in-law since 2007, affectionately called her "Grandma". She will be forever treasured as a loving wife, mother, mother-in-law, grandmother, great grandmother, aunt and friend. She is survived by her son Robert and his wife Pamela of Pownal, ME, daughter-in law Penny Farrington of Willington, CT, sister Helen Makara of Terryville, CT; grandchildren, Kathleen Greene of Enfield, CT, Shawn Farrington of Willington, CT, CPT Christopher Farrington of Ft. Benning, GA, and Sarah Farrington of Silver Spring, MD. She was blessed with three great grandchildren: Brittney Greene of Denver, CO, Emily Greene of Oakdale, and Shawn Joseph Farrington of Willington, CT. She is also survived by many nieces and nephews. She is predeceased by her parents, her husband Gilbert Reese Farrington, oldest son Gilbert Thomas Farrington, infant daughter Nancy Louise; by her brothers Joseph and John Buczek of New Milford, CT, Edward Buczek of Pensacola, FL and Colorado Springs, CO; sisters Mary Buczek of New Milford, CT and Genevieve Angelovich of Bantam, CT. The family will receive guests at Introvigne Funeral Home, Inc., 51 East Main St., Stafford Springs, CT on Friday, January 18, 2013 from 6-8 P.M. Her funeral will be held on Saturday, January, 19, 2013, with a procession forming by 10 A.M. at the funeral home, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 11 A.M. at St. Jude Church, 25 Old Farms Rd., Willington, CT. Burial will follow in Willington Hill Cemetery, Willington, CT. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Willington Senior Center, 60 Old Farms Rd., Willington, CT 06279.
