Charles E. Woodworth's Obituary
Charles E. Woodworth, 76, of Willington, CT, passed away in the comfort of his home, surrounded by the family he loved so dearly, on Monday, February 8, 2021. He was born in Willimantic, CT, son of the late Earl and Helen (Stachurski) Woodworth. Charlie attended Windham High School class of 1962 where he was Captain of the varsity basketball team. Charlie served our country in the United States National Guard and retired as a Superintendent from the State of Connecticut Department of Transportation. He was a volunteer EMT and firefighter with Willington Fire Department #1 achieving the rank of Assistant Chief. He enjoyed his animals, fishing with his brother-in-law Rob; whom he loved and talked to nearly every dayfor the past 57 years and playing softball for many years with the Windham Elders. Above all, he was a loving and devoted husband, father, and grandfather. Charlie is survived by his beloved wife of 53 years, Cheryl (Phelon) Woodworth; his son, David Woodworth and his wife Kristen and their son Liam Charles, his daughter, Jennifer Woodworth and her son Kash London; brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Robert and Carol Phelon; sister-in-law, Patricia Woodworth; several nieces and nephews; and many very special friends. He cherished his grandsons with all his heart and was fortunate to have spent so many invaluable moments with them singing and teaching, checking their homework and always emphasizing to do good in school and the importance of their education. Liam and Kash want you to know “he always kept trying and never gave up trying to do his absolute best. He always thought about everyone else before himself.” Charlie was predeceased by his brother, Earl Woodworth; and sister, Carol Littell. His funeral service will be held on Saturday, February 20, 2021 at 11 A.M. at Introvigne Funeral Home, Inc., 51 East Main St., Stafford Springs, CT. Burial will follow in Willington Hill Cemetery, Willington, CT. Calling hours are on Friday, February 19, 2021 from 5-7 P.M. at the funeral Home.
