David R. Hoch's Obituary
David R. Hoch, 74, of Stafford Springs, CT, passed away peacefully on Sunday, March 25, 2018 at Johnson Memorial Hospital. He was born on September 2, 1943 in Stafford Springs, son of the late William F. and Gizella (Dorsey) Hoch. David attended local schools and graduated from Stafford High School in 1961. In 1965 David built a house on his small farm where he raised beef cattle. David worked for Wonder Bread for many years, and then established the Theater Restaurant on Main St. in downtown Stafford. He sold the restaurant and started an Evergreen business where he sold evergreen branches to local nurseries to be used as decorations, mostly in Christmas displays. David continued to sell evergreen branches until his retirement. During his retirement he spent most of his time outside managing his 12 acre evergreen forest and working in his garden. David loved trees and the outdoors. He planted dozens of hemlock, spruce, pine and his favorite, Norway Spruce, trees on the land on which he raised cattle. David is survived by five nephews, William D. Hoch and his wife Theresa Amy, Greg Hoch and his wife Cindy, Mark Hendrickson and his wife Beth, Gregg Hendrickson and his wife Lisa, and Bobby Hendrickson; one niece, Arlette Cassidy and her husband Ray; one great nephew, Taj M. Hoch; and a sister-in-law, Annette Hoch; and several cousins. David was predeceased by his brother, William J. Hoch; and his sister, Mary Hendrickson. A calling hour will be held on Wednesday, April 4, 2018 from 9:30 to 10:30 A.M. at Introvigne Funeral Home, Inc., 51 East Main St., Stafford Springs, CT, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00 A.M. at St. Edward Church, 55 High St., Stafford Springs, CT.
