David M. Kies' Obituary
David Michael Kies, 30, of Stafford Springs, CT, passed from this earth unexpectedly from a massive stroke on February 24, 2020. David enjoyed life to the fullest; always smiling, singing and dancing listening to his headphones, as he walked mile after mile through the Town of Stafford. When you saw him, you couldn’t help but notice the joy he was experiencing and you would have to smile. David was a Special Olympic Athlete who enjoyed floor hockey, softball, soccer, basketball and bowling. Basketball was his passion in High School. David was small in stature, but that didn’t deter him from playing basketball. His enthusiasm and determination showed at each game and Coach Paradiso and Coach Holstetler paired up and decided that it was time for David to score during a Stafford vs. Somers game. David received the ball a half dozen times during the game and no one will ever forget when he finally scored! The whole arena cheered! He was an avid fan of the Dallas Cowboys and the New York Yankees. His other passion was NASCAR racing and every year, he and his family went to Dover, Maryland to watch the races. His favorite driver was #24, Jeff Gordon. He was our miracle baby and we are so thankful for the 30 wonderful years we had with him. We will miss him dearly. While we are greatly saddened that this beautiful sunshine has left us on earth, we take comfort in knowing that this brightest of lights is shining down on all of us from heaven. And that he also lives on in his organ donations to others in need so that they may continue to live and enjoy the fullness of life that David did. He leaves behind his father and mother, David and Sompong Kies, his sister, Jasmine Prince, his nephew to be, whom he couldn’t wait to teach basketball, his very close friend, Addison, his girlfriend, Nicole, his life-long friend, Jessica, his aunt and uncle, Arlene and Mark Prouty, and many cousins and Special Olympic friends and coaches. He was predeceased by his grandmothers, Marjorie Harvey and Euri Sawyer. A calling hour will be held on Monday, March 2, 2020 from 10-11 A.M., with a memorial service to take place at 11 A.M., at Introvigne Funeral Home, Inc., 51 East Main St., Stafford Springs, CT. Burial will follow in Stafford Springs Cemetery, Stafford Springs, CT. Memorial contributions may be made to Special Olympics Connecticut, 3 Pearson Way, Enfield, CT 06082, Attn: Mike Vignone.
