David F. Smith's Obituary
David F. Smith, 71, of Stafford Springs, CT, passed away in the comfort of his home, with his beloved wife Jean Beckley Smith. He was born in Stafford, CT, son of the late Harvey Smith and Esther (Hathaway) Smith. He was predeceased by his sister, Nancy Driscoll, brother, Irving Smith, nephew, Scott Driscoll, nephew, Andrew Price, and brother-in-law, R. Dennis Parkin. Besides his wife Jean, he leaves behind his sisters-in-law, Chris Smith, Pam (Beckley) Weller and her husband Lou, and Sue (Beckley) Parkin. He will also be lovingly remembered by his nephew, Michael Smith, his nieces, Audra (Smith) Lauf, and Liz Wise, and nephews, Wayne Driscoll, James Driscoll and wife Melissa, Steven Price and Mike Wise. Dave also leaves behind great nieces and nephews, Michaela (Lauf) and husband Tyler Jordan, Ally Lauf and her significant other Matt Psaltakis, Camden Smith, Brodie Smith, Aerial Driscoll, Haven Driscoll and wife Dawn and their two children, and many cousins and dear friends. David attended Stafford High School and worked at the printers in Stafford. He later attended Johnson & Wales Culinary school. David’s passion for food and cooking would follow him the rest of his life. He loved having parties and cooking for his friends. There were many articles in Culinary magazines complimenting Dave’s special dishes. After his cooking career David worked for this brother at Smith Motors and later as a Marshall at the Rockville Courthouse. Dave didn’t feel complete without his faithful dogs at his side. He always gave generously to all causes for animals. Dave knew he was a fortunate man to have so many family and friends throughout life and at his side when he was ill. A special thank you to all of you. David was plagued by many illnesses throughout his life but he always kept a brave face. A memorial will be held privately at a later date.
