Our condolences to Wendy and all of Sam's family. Sam was accomplished and talented and shall be missed. Being a Stafford native, I had the pleasure of knowing him when we were very young and he was still Donny to those who knew him. We watched his career soar because of his gift. I send condolences on behalf of my mother, Dot Piccin Roberts, also of Italian heritage, who was acquainted with Sam's mother, Elsie while we were growing up. Goodbye, Sam.

"Bigger-than-life", "full of the devil", "mad as a hatter"(literally and figuratively), Sam was a man who deserved quotation marks. He will be missed.

Sorry to hear about "SAM" passing. Sam and I were very close in high school. We had a small band together and we always had a great time together with our high school friends. Sam was bigger than life itself. We had many great times together and he always added life to the party. He was a true friend and a person you could count on when you needed him.

My condolences to the family. Sam was a great guy. When my family and I moved to Stafford from Italy he was one of the very first person we met and from there on he was always there when we needed some help or favour. We lost touch but we remember him as a great person and knowing he is not here anymore makes us very sad.

On behalf of my mother, Elizabeth "Snookie" (Panciera) Whitehouse, and her children, Craig, Chris, Andy and myself, Dodi, I send our deepest sympathies.
Donald (as she called him) was indeed a talent--his many accomplishments and passions set him apart. Sadly, as we all get busy in
our own lives--most of us have not seen Sam or many of our cousins/relatives in many years, but we share a rich heritage and deep sense of family that keeps us all connected. The family resemblance is unmistakeable!
Snookie is not able to attend the service, as a resident of Pierce Memorial Home (Brooklyn, Ct) for nearly 4 yrs it is difficult to transport her.
I regret that I will be traveling over the next several days, as I would have been honored to attend and represent our branch of the family in Sam's honor.
As someone who is very interested in our Italian
roots (I will make my first visit to Italy in 2010)it is sad to know that another family member has passed, but I have made it a goal to visit Forno Di Zoldo and will say a prayer for Sam when I finally get there. We will keep you all in our thoughts and prayers.

Sam was without a doubt one of the most interesting people on earth. He was a born entertainer and had the gift of gab. He reminded me of the wonderful times with my late husband. They were quite a two-some. You always knew where you stood. He prided himself on being a "mountain" man. He loved his Wendy. He will be sorely missed but not forgotten. God Bless.

I am saddned to hear of the loss of Sam. There are many Sam stories out there. In retrospect he was ahead of his time. Early in high school he sang all the Tom Leher songs accompanying himself on the piano. He directed a play wit all the vim and vigor of Hollywood. One interesting night in college he came down from Boston to Providence in full Castro gear and startled the rest of my staid dorm. I will miss this Renaissance Man. Unfotunately I cannot attend the services due to a California trip to see my daughters and new grandson.

My condolences to the family of Sam. He will be missed. I was present when he acquired the moniker of "Sam" and remember it well. It was the first day of French I class in the fall of 1955. Our teacher, Mr. Herve Loiselle, inquired of Donald as to what was his name. Donald replied "Sam" and it was his name forever more.
