Donald R. Woods' Obituary
Donald R. Woods, 79, of Stafford Springs, CT, passed away on Monday, February 2, 2015 at Johnson Memorial Hospital. He was born in Bridgeport, MA, son of the late Howard and Viola May (Blydenburg) Woods. Donald served in the U.S. Navy and retired as a quality control inspector of sheet metal from Flanagan’s. Currently he was employed at REC in Stafford. Donald was an avid fan of the Boston Red Sox, Washington Redskins, and UConn basketball. He was also a member of the Strazza, Tonoli-Emhoff Post No. 26 American Legion. Donald is survived by his loving wife of 58 years, Betty (Bailey) Woods; three children, Thomas Woods and his fiancé Ann, Kim Garrell and her husband Ken, and Karen Bessette and her husband Wayne; 10 grandchildren; 13 great grandchildren; two sisters, Joan Ridenback and Dorothy Owens and her husband Gene; and many nieces, nephews, and cousins. He was predeceased by his son, Donald R. Woods. His funeral service with Military Honors will be held on Saturday, February 7, 2015 at 10 A.M. at Introvigne Funeral Home, Inc., 51 East Main St., Stafford Springs, CT. Burial will take place privately in the Spring at West Stafford Cemetery, Stafford Springs, CT. Calling hours are on Friday from 6-8 P.M. at the funeral home.
