Dorothy G. Caldwell's Obituary
Dorothy G. Caldwell, 85, loving wife of the late George E. Caldwell, went home to be with George to continue their love story on Wednesday, April 18, 2018. She was born in Palmer, MA, one of 13 children of the late Stephen and Phoebe (Potter) Dugay. Dorothy had worked as a receptionist in the office of Dr. Bush, and also worked as a crossing guard in Stafford, CT. She was considered “Mom” to many in Stafford: neighbors, friends, and children. She is remembered by so many being in the kitchen cooking a ton of food at dinner time because she always wanted to have enough for whoever was going to be walking in the door, she never turned anyone away. She also made her famous coffee cakes for gifts at Christmas for the surrounding businesses. She loved to bake, and was very crafty, making Christmas wreaths, and other crafts. Her cabbage rolls were the highlight of many family picnics. Dorothy and George enjoyed camping. Dorothy loved butterflies and especially her dachshunds. Bingo was her favorite game, and crosswords and puzzles were also an enjoyable pastime. Dorothy is survived by her children, Gary and Brian Caldwell, Glenn Caldwell and his wife Joy, Greg Caldwell, Georgiana Hogarth and her husband Bill, Bonniejean Burns and her husband David, and Gayelynn Miller and her husband Bill; grandchildren, Jared, Melissa, Desiree, Alan, Hannah, Shane, Ryan, and Kayla, great granddaughters, Elaina, Morgan, and Bailey; siblings, Robert and Joseph Dugay, Marion Sherwood, and Elsie Jette; along with many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her sons, Bruce and Barry Caldwell; and siblings, Walter, Bill, Alice, George, John, Helen, Charlie, and James. The family would like to extend their deepest appreciation to the nurses, doctors, and staff at Woodlake at Tolland for their continued care and support over the past few years. A memorial service will be held on Saturday, June 23, 2018 at 12 P.M. at Introvigne Funeral Home, Inc., 51 East Main St., Stafford Springs, CT. Burial will follow in Staffordville Cemetery, Stafford, CT. Memorial donations may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association, P.O. Box 96011, Washington, DC 20090.
