Egle Fontanella's Obituary
Egle R. Fontanella, 98, of Stafford Springs, CT, beloved wife of the late Mario Fontanella, passed away on Saturday, May 30, 2009 at Evergreen Health Care Center, Stafford Springs, CT. She was born in Thompson, CT, daughter of the late Joseph B. and Maria (DeLuca) Oldrini. Egle retired as a button sorter from the former B. Schwanda & Sons. As a woman of faith, she was a member of St. Edward Parish, a Gold Star Mother of the Strazza, Tonoli-Emhoff Post No. 26 American Legion Ladies Auxiliary, and a volunteer at Johnson Memorial Hospital for many years. She took great pride in being a Gold Star Mother and riding in the Memorial Day Parades, but most of all she loved her family. Egle is survived by her two sons, Charles J. Fontanella and his wife Jean of Turner Falls, MA, and Donald A. Fontanella and his wife Susan of Vernon, CT; her daughter, Janet M. Sebastian and her husband Jimmie Of Whidbey Island, WA; nine grandchildren; 19 great grandchildren; five great-great grandchildren; brother, Rino Oldrini of Hobe Sound, FL; three sisters, Rose Bradnan of Willington, CT, Nola Oldrini of Stafford Springs, CT, and Judy Alaconis, Gilford, CT; many nieces and nephews, and was a Nonna to many more. She was predeceased by a son, Mario Fontanella, who died during the Korean Conflict; great grandson, Aaron; and her brother, Dino. Her funeral will be held on Wednesday, June 3, 2009, with a procession forming by 9 A.M. at Introvigne Funeral Home, Inc., 51 East Main St., Stafford Springs, CT, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. St. Edward Church, High St., Stafford Springs, CT. Burial will follow in St. Edward Cemetery, Stafford Springs, CT. Calling hours are on Tuesday from 6-8 P.M. at the funeral home.
