Eleanor J. Urda's Obituary
Eleanor Joan Urda, 78, of Manchester, CT, passed away on September 19, 2023 after a serious illness. She was born in Stafford, CT on May 23, 1945, daughter of the late Andrew and Sadie (Cekala) Urda. Eleanor was an honors graduate of Stafford High School. She held a Master of Arts degree in Social Psychology from the University of California and a sixth year certificate from the University of Hartford. She has been employed at Riverview Hospital for Children, Long Lane School, Elmcrest Psychiatric Institute, the Institute of Living, and has been a clinical instructor at Tufts University School of Medicine. In private practice, she has specialized in rape, incest, women’s issues, and PTSD. She leaves behind her sister, Patricia (Urda) Thompson O’Brien, and two nephews, Kenneth and Kurt Thompson and their wives, Jaime (Josephiac) and Stephanie (Gilmour), respectively, as well as four grand nephews, Cooper, Kyle, Cameron, and Tripper, and three grand nieces, Bailey, Marina, and Paityn. Funeral services and burial will be private. Memorial donations may be made to Safe Net Ministries, P.O. Box 93, Stafford Springs, CT 06076, which helps needy local citizens with shelter and food.
