Grandpa was a man of distinction. His love for nature, his intense knowledge of history, amazing craftsmanship talents and his overall love for family was a testimony to his character.
When his grandchildren were small Grandpa and Grandma would make annual trips to Naples Florida to spend time with his son and family. Many happy memories were shared with Joshua and Destiny (grandchildren) riding the tractor with Grandpa, Grandpa reading story after story to them, going on walks through nature while explaining the ‘creatures of the forest’ to them He would pull them in the wagon while they slept. He was and always will be the best father-in-law and grandpa to my children.
Two of my favorite memories was ‘the Florida haircut.’ Grandpa’s hair grew in a circle around his head and he would always ask me to cut his hair when in Florida. Not being a hairdresser, but thinking…how difficult can this be? One day I pulled out the cutting shears and just followed the circle around his little head which amazingly always turned out nice.He loved it, and loved the fact it saved him $5!! This became a Florida tradition which I was always happy to do!
Grandpa loved a ‘good cheddar cheese’ but grandma would always remind him to ‘watch the cheese intake, you know Emil you have cholesterol issues.’
Grandpa would always have this cute little smile and low giggle as I would sneak him extra cheese as he was trying to explain to Grandma that ‘you know these things can be hereditary, I’m not a rabbit, I can’t just eat lettuce. He always made you smile in everything he said.
So many wonderful memories of the times they spent in Florida.
There will never be another Grandpa as wonderful, loving, sweet and gentle as Grandpa Kucko.
He has three fabulous grandchildren who have learned and grown so much in their love for nature because of him.
We LOVE YOU SO MUCH GRANDPA and you will be missed but never forgotten.
Love you,
Debbie Dean
