Eveo "Red" Canestrari's Obituary
Eveo A. “Red” Canestrari, 97, of Stafford Springs, CT, passed away on Monday, April 11, 2011 at Evergreen Health Care Center, Stafford Springs, CT. He was born in Stafford Springs, CT, son of the late Augusto and Augusta (Panciera) Canestrari. Eveo attended local schools, was a veteran of the U.S. Navy having served during World War II, and for many years owned and operated Red & Art’s Service Station in Willington, CT. He was a member of St. Edward Parish, honorary life member of the Italian Benefit Society, and member of the Strazza, Tonoli-Emhoff Post No. 26 American Legion. Eveo was predeceased by his wife, Eve (Docar) Canestrari; his son, Thomas A Canestrari; grandson, Thomas E. Canestrari; and his sister, Della Gilbert. He leaves behind his daughter, Eleanor Canestrari; his son, Arthur Canestrari and his wife Geraldine; daughter-in-law, Ella Lazzerin; three grandchildren, Michael Canestrari, Tony Canestrari, and Mandi J. Gavlak; and a great granddaughter, Morgan Canestrari. Calling time will be held on Wednesday, April 13, 2011 from 10:30 - 11 A.M. with a funeral service to take place at 11 A.M. at Introvigne Funeral Home, Inc., 51 East Main St., Stafford Springs, CT. Burial with Military Honors will follow in St. Edward Cemetery, Stafford Springs, CT. Memorial donations may be made to the St. Edward School Memorial Fund, 6 Benton St., Stafford Springs, CT 06076.
