Frances S. Almquist's Obituary
Frances S. Almquist, 82, of Vernon, CT, and formerly of Stafford Springs, CT, beloved wife of the late Neil J. Almquist, passed away on Wednesday, April 1, 2026. Born in New Haven, CT, she was the daughter of the late Robert and Frances (Burns) Scott. Frances dedicated many years of her life working as a school crossing guard, where she became a familiar and friendly presence in her community.
Frances found great joy in knitting and crocheting, lovingly creating hats, slippers, and afghans for family and friends. She treasured time spent with loved ones, whether gathering with family or enjoying outings with friends. Known for her warm spirit and sense of humor, she always sought to bring laughter and happiness to those around her. Above all, Frances cherished her family, who were the center of her life.
She is survived by her seven children: Mary Ann Almquist, Therese Almquist, Margaret Almquist and her husband Adam Costa, Angel Almquist, Catherine Gibson and her husband Jamie, Joseph Almquist and his wife Melissa, and Bridget Almquist and her husband Daniel Zuchegna; her 22 grandchildren; and two great-granddaughters. She was predeceased by her grandson, Jonathan Clavette; her two brothers, Robert W. Scott, Jr. and Arthur Scott; and her sister, Diane Janicki.
A calling hour will be held on Friday, April 10, 2026, from 11:30 AM to 12:30 PM at Introvigne Funeral Home, Inc., 51 East Main St., Stafford Springs, CT, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 1:00 PM at St. Edward Church, 55 High St., Stafford Springs. Burial will follow in St. Edward Cemetery, Stafford Springs, CT. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to a charity of one’s choice.
