Frances Fontanella's Obituary
Frances (Sladek) Fontanella, 99, of Middletown, CT, and formerly of Stafford Springs, CT, beloved wife of the late Alexander E. Fontanella, passed away on Sunday, February 18, 2007 at Middlesex Memorial Hospital, Middletown, CT. She was born in Czechoslovakia, daughter of the late William and Frances (Soukup) Sladek. Frances retired from Pratt & Whitney Aircraft as an assembly line worker. She was also a weaver at the former Cheney Mills in Manchester, and a cafeteria worker at Johnson Memorial Hospital. Frances was a member of St. Edward Parish, honorary life member of the Ladies Auxiliary of the Italian Benefit Society, honorary life member of the former Stafford Golden Age Club, and member of the Stafford Senior Center. Frances is survived by her daughter-in-law, Rose Fontanella of Middletown, CT; five grandchildren, five great granddaughters; a great great grandson; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins. She was predeceased by her son, Alan Fontanella; two grandsons, Barry and Ronald Fontanella; two brothers, William and Frank Sladek; and three sisters, Mary Vonasek, Anna Tonoli, and Bette Lotarius. A funeral service will be held on Wednesday, February 21, 2007 at 11 A.M. at Introvigne Funeral Home, Inc., 51 East Main St., Stafford Springs, CT. Burial will follow in St. Edward Cemetery, Stafford Springs, CT. A calling hour will be held on Wednesday from 10-11 A.M. at the funeral home prior to the service.
