Frances Szall's Obituary
Frances Szall, 94, of Ocala, FL passed away on January 26, 2021. She was a long-time resident of Willington, CT before relocating to Ocala, FL to be near her children. Frances was born in Ashford, CT to the late Peter and Annie (Hockla) Hnath. Frances was an accomplished seamstress. She set the time-to-sew standard at Cheney Brothers for attaching parachute suspension lines to nylon parachute canopies until the end of World War II. She self-taught shorthand dictation and typing to prepare for a 20-year career as an admired administrative assistant at the University of Connecticut. Her renowned seamstress talents were further used when St. Philip the Apostle Church asked her to sew new altar server robes. She gladly devoted numerous months sewing 15 robes for the servers and numerous table cloths situated throughout the church. Frances especially enjoyed the annual 4th of July family barbeques, hosting Christmas Eve dinners and volunteering at St. Philip the Apostle Church. She was predeceased by her husband, Joseph L Szall, and is survived by her four children, Joseph P. Szall and his wife Karen, Daniel Szall and his wife Deborah, Joyce Gerardi, and Laurie Martyniak; five grandchildren, Jonathan, Shane, Jennifer, Kari, and Taylor; and five great grandchildren, Brady, Victoria, Alexis, Logan, and Summer. A calling hour will be held on Thursday, February 4, 2021 from 9:15 – 10:15 A.M. at Introvigne Funeral Home, Inc., 51 East Main St., Stafford Springs, CT, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00 A.M. at St. Philip the Apostle Church, 64 Pompey Hollow Rd., Ashford, CT.
