Francis "Bud" Finch's Obituary
Francis L. “Bud” Finch, 87, of Stafford Springs, CT, passed away on Sunday, September 3, 2017 at Woodlake at Tolland. He was born in Norwalk, CT, son of the late Fred and Laura (Underhill) Finch. As an infant Bud and his family left Norwalk and moved to his grandparent’s farm in Staffordville on Finch Road. This is where his humble beginnings started. He was a former Captain and member of the Stafford Fire Department No. 1 since he was 14 years old. Bud was a life-long member of the department who was dedicated to unselfishly serving his community, and this carried though out his life. As an adult Bud worked as an operating engineer for Brunalli Construction, and served our country in the U.S. Army. He was also a member of the Staffordville Cemetery Association, the International Union of Operating Engineers Local 478, V.F.W. Post No. 9990 of Stafford, the Stafford Water Pollution Control Board, the Stafford Consolidation Committee, the Stafford Library Committee, and he was also a Justice of the Peace. After his retirement Bud enjoyed using his dump truck and construction equipment to provide small jobs (and some not so small jobs) to family, friends – old and new. Bud always worried about others, his goal was to always help everyone, whether he knew you or not, that’s just who Bud was. Bud is survived by his loving wife of 64 years, Barbara (Russell) Finch; three children, Jackie Safner and her husband Peter, Michael Finch, and Scott Finch and his wife Lisa; six grandchildren, Sean and his wife Jen, Heather, Andrea, Mallery, Natalie and Justin; one great granddaughter, Angela; and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his two brothers, Harold and Earl Finch. Calling hours will be held on Saturday, September 9, 2017 from 10 A.M. to 12 P.M. followed by a memorial service at 12 P.M. at Introvigne Funeral Home, Inc., 51 East Main St., Stafford Springs, CT. Burial in Staffordville Cemetery will be held privately. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Stafford Fire Department No. 1, P.O. Box 147, Staffordville, CT 06077 or the Staffordville Cemetery Association, c/o Amy Hartenstein, 118 Hydeville Rd., Stafford Springs, CT 06076.
