Francis Vail's Obituary
Francis “Jim” Vail, 88, of Stafford Springs, CT, passed away on Wednesday, February 24, 2010 at Hartford Hospital, Hartford, CT. He was born in Stafford Springs, CT, son of the late James M. and Flora (Rabideau) Vail. Jim was an Army Air Corps veteran of World War II, and retired as an architectural draftsman. He was a member of St. Edward Parish, the Italian Benefit Society, Strazza, Tonoli-Emhoff Post No. 26 American Legion, and the Stafford Senior Center. Jim was instrumental in the organization of Stafford Little League, where he coached the Owls for 10 years. He also coached Stafford Midget Basketball for several years. Jim is survived by his loving wife of 63 years, Edith (Hatt) Vail of Stafford Springs, CT; four children, Brian Vail and his wife Cheryl of Stafford Springs, CT, Kevin Vail of Lake Tahoe, NV, Mark Vail of Denver, CO, and Kurt Vail and Suzanne Spencer of Stafford Springs, CT; son-in-law, Ken Olesen of Putnam, CT; eight grandchildren, Keri Rollins and her husband Les, Jeremy Vail and Kim Waskiewicz, Matthew Vail and his wife Jennifer, Kelly Murdock and her husband Steve, and Kayla, Hannah, Noah, and Sarah Vail; eight great grandchildren, Lauren, Zach, Austin, Jake, Maggie, Cole, Mackenzie, and Addison; three sisters, Lucy Hebert of California, Agens Fontanella and her husband Tracy of Stafford Springs, CT, and Dorothy Panciera and her husband Ned of Stafford Springs, CT; and many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by two children, Keith Vail and Heidi Olesen; and a great grandson, Brian John Murdock. His funeral will be held on Monday, March 1, 2010, with a procession forming by 9 A.M. at Introvigne Funeral Home, Inc., 51 East Main St., Stafford Springs, CT, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 A.M. at St. Edward Church, High St., Stafford Springs, CT. Burial will follow in St. Edward Cemetery, Stafford Springs, CT. Calling hours are on Sunday from 2-6 P.M. at the funeral home.
