Frank Smialek,'s Obituary
Frank P. 'Sonny' Smialek, Jr., 73, of Crow Hill Rd., Stafford Springs, CT, beloved husband of the late Helma M. (Kukowetz) Smialek, passed away unexpectedly on Tuesday, January 16, 2007 in Springfield, MA. He was born in Hartford, CT, son of the late Frank P., Sr. and Caroline (Maziarczyk) Smialek. Frank was a U.S. Army veteran of the Korean Conflict. He was the owner and operator of Itala Printing and Publishing in Springfield, MA. Frank was a member of St. Edward Parish, member of the Strazza, Tonoli-Emhoff Post No. 26 American Legion, and former president of the South End Business Association. He was also and avid hunter, and was president of Little League Baseball in the 1970's. Frank is survived by two sons, Frank P. Smialek III of Stafford Springs, CT, and Jeffrey B. Smialek and his wife Julie of Wesley Chapel, FL; a daughter, Nina Smialek of Stafford Springs, CT; six grandchildren, Joshua, Sarah, Jeffrey, Scott, Olivia, and Alison; a daughter-in-law, Gail D. Smialek of Stafford Springs, CT; two sisters, Geraldine Noyes and her husband Edward of Live Oak, FL, and Francis Whitehead of Hartford, CT; and many nieces and nephews. A memorial Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Saturday, February 3, 2007 at 2 P.M. at St. Edward Church, High St., Stafford Springs, CT. Burial will be private and at the convenience of the family. Memorial donations may be made to the Disabled American Veterans Memorial Program, P.O.
