Galen M. Cromwell's Obituary
Galen M. Cromwell, 69, of Stafford Springs, CT, passed away peacefully on Sunday, June 19, 2016 at St. Francis Hospital. He was born in Hartland, ME, son of the late Merle and Eleanor (Libby) Cromwell. Galen grew up in Maine having worked with his family as a lumberjack, and was then drafted into the U.S. Army in 1966, returning home in 1968. Before going to Vietnam in 1966, he married the love of his life, Patsy (Towle) Cromwell. In 1974, he and his family moved to Stafford Springs, CT. For a number of years, Galen managed a Gasland Gas Station at the five corners in Ellington, CT. He was also a super sales person for Fepco Inc., a printing company for twenty plus years, and then a custodian at Stafford High School. Galen coached youth basketball and baseball for many years, and loved to play golf. In addition to his wife, he is survived by his beloved children, Kevin Cromwell and his wife Kim of Vernon, CT, and Toby Cromwell of Stafford Springs, CT; two grandchildren whom he idolized, Tyler and Sam Cromwell of Vernon, CT; his brother, Tim Cromwell and his partner Andrea of Stafford Springs, CT; uncle, John Libby and his wife Helen of Maine; mother-in-law, Faye Towle of Maine; sisters-in-laws and brothers-in-laws; several nieces, nephews, and cousins; many friends; and his dog, Shadow. He was predeceased by his brother, Paul Libby. The family would like to thank all the doctors, nurses, hospice workers, and staff at Johnson Memorial Hospital and St. Francis Hospital for all their care and support. Calling hours will be held on Saturday, June 25, 2016 from 12-2 P.M. with a memorial service to take place at 2 P.M. at Introvigne Funeral Home, Inc., 51 East Main St., Stafford Springs, CT.
