George Bazala,'s Obituary
George Bazala, Jr., 85, of Old South Willington Rd., Willington, CT, beloved husband of the late Roberta (Gorton) Bazala, passed away on Friday, April 23, 2010 at Johnson Memorial Hospital, Stafford Springs, CT. He was born in Stafford Springs, CT, son of the late George, Sr. and Jennie (Bartek) Bazala. George was a U.S. Marine Corps veteran of World War II and U.S. Navy veteran of the Korean Conflict. He retired from Pratt and Whitney Aircraft as an engineer. He was a member of St. Jude Parish, Corporal Henry Toberman V.F.W. Post No. 938 of Willington, and Strazza, Tonoli-Emhoff Post No. 26 American Legion of Stafford. He was also a former member of the Board of Finance for the Town of Willington, and member of the Willington Senior Center. George was awarded for his community services a few years back, and was also recognized by the state for his military service during World War II. He also enjoyed reading stories to the children in grades K-3 at Center School in Willington. George is survived by his two daughters, Michelle Burns and her husband Richard, and Susan Smolen and her husband Jerome, all of Willington, CT; and four grandchildren, Michael and Kimberly Burns, and Corey and Shannon Smolen. His funeral service will be held on Thursday, April 29, 2010 at 10 A.M. at Introvigne Funeral Home, Inc., 51 East Main St., Stafford Springs, CT. Burial in Willington Hill Cemetery, Willington, CT, will be held privately. Calling hours are on Wednesday from 6-8 P.M. at the funeral home.
