George "Buddy" H. Lester III's Obituary
George “Buddy” Lester, 77, of Burlington, CT, passed away on October 16, 2025 in Torrington, CT after a brave battle with cancer. Bud was born on December 3, 1947 son of the late George and Josephine Lester, in Stafford Springs, CT. After graduating from Stafford High School, he enlisted in the United States Marine Corps where he spent a portion of his enlistment in Guantanamo Bay, Cuba. Bud spent his career as Safety Manager for North American Van Lines in Chicopee, MA. His leisure time was spent golfing, boating, fishing and archery.
He leaves behind his daughters, Dulcey Kingett and Jessica Dawson, as well as grandchildren, Madison and Hayden Kingett, and Matthew and Charlotte Nacsin. Also, Harold Lester of South Carolina, his brother, as well as best friend, whom Buddy spent time with boating and fishing, as well as hours on the phone as the NASCAR races took place. He also leaves behind his sister, Donna Potwin and brother-in-law, Arthur Potwin of Harwinton, CT, where he spent time watching the wildlife in their backyard and playing with his favorite feline friend (nephew) Milo. He was an uncle to Kerry and Alan Boudreau, and great uncle to Stephanie and Samantha. He enjoyed the company of his neighbors at Evergreen Senior Housing, especially his good friend and excellent baker, Phyllis Cappa. The family would like to thank Dr. Ashita Talsania, the nurses, phlebotomists, and office staff at Yale New Haven Smilow Cancer Center in Torrington, CT for their compassionate and caring support given to Buddy and his family.
A visiting hour will be held on Monday, October 27, 2025 from 10:00 – 11:00 AM at Introvigne Funeral Home, Inc., 51 East Main St., Stafford Springs, CT. Burial with Military Honors will follow at 11:30 AM at St. Edward Cemetery, West Stafford Rd., Stafford Springs, CT.
