George J. Ference's Obituary
George J. Ference, 94, of Ashford, CT, husband of the late Helen (Rosyar) Ference, passed away on Friday, August 5, 2016. He was born in Ashford, CT, son of the late John, Sr. and Anna (Hopko) Ference. George served in the United States Army during World War II. He worked hard all of his life as a mason. He was a devoted communicant of St. Philip the Apostle Church, loved to fish, grew and sold Christmas trees, raised honey bees, enjoyed gardening vegetables and calla lilies, loved cooking, and traveled extensively throughout the world. George is survived by his three children, James Ference and his wife Cathy (Kaylor) Ference of Ashford, CT, Louise Ference-Simon and her husband David Simon of Mansfield Center, CT, and Thomas Ference of Essex Junction, VT; grandson, Paul Ference; sister, Catherine Marcisin; and several nieces and nephews. His funeral will be held on Tuesday, August 9, 2016, with a procession forming by 10 A.M. at Introvigne Funeral Home, Inc., 51 East Main St., Stafford Springs, CT, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 11 A.M. at St. Philip the Apostle Church, Pompey Hollow Rd., Ashford, CT. Burial with Military Honors will follow in St. Philip Cemetery, Ashford, CT. Calling hours are on Monday from 6-8 P.M. at the funeral home.
