George Norman Gibson's Obituary
George Norman Gibson, 81, of Stafford Springs, CT, and formerly of Springfield, MA, passed away on Thursday, August 31, 2017 in the comfort of his home. He was born in Greenfield, MA, son of the late Edward and Eunice (Atcherson) Gibson. Norman honorably served his country in the United States Navy, and retired as a Captain from the Springfield Fire Department. He is survived by his beloved wife of 52 years, Betty (Cassanelli) Gibson; two children, David Gibson and his wife Dory of Barrington, NH, and Heather Curnan and her husband Timothy of Stafford Springs, CT; six grandchildren Amy, Emily, Meaghan, Sarah, Dominic, and Ian; sister, Darlene Starosielski and her husband Pavel of New York; and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his brother, Gordon Gibson. Visiting hours will be held on Wednesday, September 6, 2017 from 10 A.M. – 12 P.M. with a memorial service to take place at 12 P.M. at Introvigne Funeral Home, Inc., 51 East Main St., Stafford Springs, CT. Burial in St. Michael Cemetery, Springfield, MA, will take place privately at a later date. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Shriners Hospitals for Children, Springfield, 516 Carew St., Springfield, MA 01104, or to a charity of the donor’s choice.
