Georgianna K. Ladd's Obituary
Georgianna Emily (Kratochvil) Ladd, 86, passed away on Thursday, August 17, 2017 after a long, struggling and painful battle with bone cancer. She was born in Springfield, MA, to the late Louis and Louise (Cybova) Kratochvil on August 22, 1930. She attended grammar school (a one room school house) in Union, CT, which is a small town that at the time had a population of only 300 people, and graduated in June of 1944. She then attended Stafford High School, having graduated in June of 1948. After graduating from high school, she moved to Hartford, CT where she was employed by the Motor Vehicle Department. She started working in the complaint department, where motor vehicle complaints issued by the state or local police departments were processed. Later she was promoted to a secretarial position to the assistant director of operator control. In 1954, she married Robert Ladd at the Emanuel Congregational Church in Hartford, CT and they moved to Union, CT. While living in Union her husband was very active in the Union Fire Department, so she organized the Women’s Auxiliary. After about 14 years at the Motor Vehicle Department and commuting, she decided to look for employment closer to home. She went to work at the Stafford Savings Bank as a teller. In 1965, Lancaster, NH became her home. They purchased the old Ray West Farm on Route 2 East. After restoring the farm house it was made into a bed and breakfast. In 1967, she was employed at Timberland Machines until 1972 when she started employment at Public Service Co. of New Hampshire, now known as Eversource. She retired from PSNH in 1994 after 22 years of employment, and retired as an office supervisor. During retirement, she enjoyed skiing and was a part time ski instructor. She wanted to become a certified PSIA Instructor, so she took the exam in 1990 for level one and passed. Also in retirement and weekends prior to retirement, hiking with her husband was a top priority. Hiking in the Presidential Mountains to be able to join the 4,000 Ft. Club was also her goal. Georgianna leaves behind her husband, Robert Ladd; a brother, Joseph Kratochvil and his wife Elaine; two nieces; two nephews; six grand nieces; and one grand nephew. A graveside service will be held on Tuesday, August 22, 2017 at 12:30 P.M. at Union Center Cemetery, Cemetery Rd., Union, CT. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations should be made to the organization of your choice. Introvigne Funeral Home, Inc., Stafford Springs, CT, has care of the arrangements.
