Grace R. Bradway's Obituary
Grace Irene (Royce) Bradway, 96, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, May 29, 2024 at Westview Health Care Center, Dayville, CT. Grace was born in Wales, MA on January 3, 1928 to the late William and Cora (Winn) Royce. She lived most of her life in Union, CT and then several years with her daughter, Cynthia, until her unexpected death in July of 2020. Grace was a graduate of Hitchcock Free Academy and attended Westfield State Teachers College for two years. She worked for over 20 years at Stevens Hardware in Stafford, CT until its closure and then for many more years at Ace Hardware in the same town. She was an active member of Wales Baptist Church and a lifelong member of the Stafford Grange. Hailing from a long line of bakers, she was known for her baking, as well as her extreme generosity. She was always willing to help anyone she could regardless of the inconvenience to herself. She was very actively involved in the lives of her children and grandchildren, spending the majority of her time in their homes, where she also loved to watch the song birds, especially cardinals. In years past, she often visited her aunt, Eva Winn, and her family in Nashua, NH. Grace is survived by her children, Priscilla Poirier and her husband Roger, Beverly Avery, Donald Bradway and his wife Karen, and Elaine Lueckel and her husband William, her grandchildren, Christine Hunt, Daniel Avery, Amanda Brummel, David Galotto, Michael Galotto, Kathleen Bradway, Emily Sellew, Sarah Lueckel, Megan Lueckel, Andrew Lueckel, and Naomi Lueckel, as well as 12 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild. She was predeceased by her sisters, Barbara Hornacek and Olive Royce, her ex-husband, Calvin Bradway, her daughter, Cynthia Ann Galotto, her granddaughter, Rebecca Hunt, and her sons-in-law, Jack Avery, Marty Galotto, and Edward Hunt. The family would like to thank the great caregivers at Westview Health Care for their wonderful love and support to Grace. Calling hours will be held on Sunday, June 2, 2024 from 5:00-7:00 PM at Introvigne Funeral Home, Inc., 51 East Main St., Stafford Springs, CT. Her funeral service will be on Monday, June 3, 2024 at 11:00 AM at the funeral home. Burial in Union Center Cemetery, Union, CT will take place immediately following the service.
