Hector C. Gutierrez's Obituary
Hector C. Gutierrez, 78, of Stafford Springs, CT passed away on Tuesday August 13, 2024. He was the only child of the veterinarian Dr. Hector and Luisa Gutierrez, both deceased. He worked at St Edward School in Stafford for many years as a well-loved Physical Education teacher. He had a passionate enthusiasm for teaching, with wisdom, patience and kindness. With sincere guidance he motivated his students to achieve their best, not just physically but to discover their full potential all around greatness in life. He was the loving and kind teacher, able to distinguish, perceive and recognize the insecure, quiet student and with his powerful, silent influence to help them build confidence and self-assurance. He took every opportunity to pour his positive energy into any willing student (and those unwilling..., he found them to be a great and welcome challenge!) He was the “cool” teacher. He was also a member of St. Edward Church, were he faithfully and quietly loved to serve. He was also very proud to have merited the Honorary Life Membership of the Rev. Felix J. O'Neil Council No. 1395 Knights of Columbus. Hector is survived by his loving wife of 50 years, Liliana Gutierrez; two children, Graciela Gutierrez, and Fernando Gutierrez and his wife Melissa; and his granddaughter, Lorelai Gutierrez. A Celebration of Life will be held with a Mass of Christian Burial on Saturday, September 7, 2024 at 11:00 AM at St. Edward Church, 55 High St., Stafford Springs, CT.
