Hubert Enders' Obituary
Hubert Russell Enders, 90, of East Main St., Stafford Springs, CT, passed away on Sunday, May 27, 2007 at Hartford Hospital, Hartford, CT. He was born in Hartford, CT on February 21, 1917 to Richard Ernst Enders and Maria Johanna Castens. He graduated from Farmington High, Class of 1934. Hubert served in the U.S. Army Signal Corps, World War II, for five years; reaching the level of Second Lieutenant. In 1943 Hubert married Elsie Mildred Brown. Aetna Life Insurance Company was where Hubert spent his entire working career - 42 years. He started as an office boy in the Casualty Department in 1935. Upon retiring in 1977, he was National Marketing Director. Hubert, Elsie, and their daughter Millianne made their home in Windsor, CT until 1964 when they moved to Bloomfield. In 1977 another move was made to Stafford Springs, CT. There, Hube served during consolidation as Fire Commissioner. A Mason, Hubert was a 56 year member of Lodge No. 88 of East Hartford, CT, the American Banjo Fraternity, and Fretted Instrument Guild of America. Always active in music, Hubert was a talented musician with a fine tenor voice; that brought happiness to all who heard him. With his wife and daughter, Hugh formed the popular "Blues Chasers", a banjo sing-a-long band. Until recently, he taught banjo, guitar, and voice. Greatly loved by many, Hubert was known throughout his lifetime as a good and honest man by all who came in contact with him. Hubert is survived by his loving wife Elsa, their daughter Millicent Despard of Vernon, CT, and her fiance Edward Wong; a brother and sister-in-law, Ernest and Patricia Enders of Farmington, CT; and two nephews, Darryl Enders of East Sandwich, MA and Ronald Enders of Louisa, KY. At Hubert's request, there will be no funeral services. Memorial contributions may be made to the charity of the donor's choice.
