Jack K. Avery's Obituary
Jack Kevin Avery, 62, of Stafford Springs, CT, went home to be with his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on Friday, May 22, 2015, after a long and courageous battle with cancer. He was at home, surrounded by family. Jack is survived by his beloved and devoted wife of nearly 40 years, Beverly J. (Bradway) Avery, his son, Daniel J. Avery, both of Stafford Springs, CT, his daughter, Amanda J. Brummel and her husband, Andrew, his two precious grandchildren, Adeline and Brady, all of Woodstock, CT, his parents, Earl T. and Gladys (Possardt) Avery, his brother, Wendell Avery and wife Victoria, all of Stafford Springs, CT, his mother-in-law, Grace Bradway, of Union, CT, a large extended family, including several nieces and nephews, and his dog, Libby. He was predeceased by his brother, Bruce, and sister, Patricia. Jack lived in Stafford Springs, CT, all his life. He graduated from Stafford High School in 1971, and later from Manchester Community College. He worked at Cabela's in East Hartford, CT, at the gun counter, after retiring from 33 years at the U.S. Postal Service, where he proudly received the Million Mile Award for safe driving. As a young man, he worked with his father, building houses. He had also served as a CT State Police Auxiliary Trooper, where he was a range master, and taught many how to shoot. Jack was an avid outdoorsman, who loved hunting and fishing, especially with his family. He was an active member of Eastford Baptist Church, serving in their youth program and as their head Trustee for many years. There will be a celebration of his life on Friday, May 29, 2015 at the Eastford Baptist Church, 133 Union Rd., Eastford, CT. Friends are invited to greet the family at the church at 4 P.M., with a service to be held at 5 P.M. Burial will take place privately at Union Center Cemetery, Union, CT.
