Jane A. Maddux's Obituary
Jane A. Maddux, 89, formerly of Harwich, MA, wife of the late Fred C. Maddux, passed away on March 3, 2017 at Redstone Rehabilitation Center, East Longmeadow, MA. She was born in East Orange, NJ, daughter of the late Thomas T. and Emma J. (Turner) Burgan. Jane worked as a supervisor in the Department of Tax and Finance for the State of New York. She was a parishioner of St. Christopher’s Episcopal Church in Chatham, MA, member of the Order of the Eastern Star, Schodack Union Lodge in East Greenbush, NY, where she also served as a past Matron, and member of the Red Hat Society of Harwich, MA. Jane was known for her love of animals, bargain hunting and having Fred replant the same bush all around the yard until it was in the perfect spot. Jane is survived by her two daughters, Gale Cottrell and her husband Thomas, and Dona Childrose; four granddaughters, Heather Thayer and her husband Steve, Melissa Malone and her husband Dan, Kelly Childrose, and Devan Harding and her husband Dave; and eight great grandchildren: Camryn and Stephanie Thayer, Kyla Wells, Shawn and Jason Malone, Lake, Graesen and Willow Harding. A memorial service to celebrate Jane’s life will be held on Saturday, April 1, 2017 at 11 A.M. in St. Mark’s Episcopal Chapel, 42 N. Eagleville Rd., Storrs, CT 06268. Burial will be at a later date at the convenience of the family. Memorial donations may be made to St. Mark’s Episcopal Chapel in Storrs, or St. Christopher’s Episcopal Church, 625 Main St., Chatham, MA 02633.
