As a representative of the church I visited often with Jean. We had many conversations and talked about many things. I always enjoyed visiting with her. Among other things, we shared an interest in nature. Many times we would sit outside her apartment as the evening came on and she would tell me about her adventures of the day. Although in great pain at times, she remained undaunted and always kept a positive attitude. During the growing season she would take me around back and talk of the different varieties of plants she had put in and show me how much they had grown. I enjoyed the beautiful flowers in front and the way she added things to her arrangements both inside and out that she gathered from the woods that surrounded her. I also recall one time when I came to visit she was excited to share with me some grape juice she had made herself from grapes she had picked.( it was pretty good) She would oftentimes remark on the beauty of nature, recalling vivid sunsets and the changing face of the land as the sun went out of sight. She remains an inspiration to me and, I am sure, to all who new her. I know she lives at rest now and without pain. I look forward to seeing her again when my time comes. In loving memory, Jim Chase
