Joan M. Catlin's Obituary
Joan M. Appleton (Yanke) Catlin, 85, was gathered in the arms of our Lord on, Sunday, January 13, 2019, and reunited with her loved ones that have passed before her. Joan was born in Providence, RI to Hubert and Anna (Clarke) Appleton, on September 25, 1933. Predominantly a CT resident, she also resided in FL, Saratoga Springs, NY, MA, and RI. During her lifetime, Joan was acknowledged for many ground breaking careers and titles. One of her favorites was serving as Director of Social Services for the Wesley Nursing Home and Embury Apartments in Saratoga Springs, NY. She served as a Notary Public, Campaign Administer for political parties, was an entrepreneur in creating, owning and operating a very successful Woman’s Consignment Store in Beverly Hills, FL. She will always be remembered for her creativeness and ingenuity, bringing beauty and elegance to everything she touched. Most importantly, she loved her family and beamed in their presence. She was an inspiring, supportive and loving mother, daughter, sister, grandmother, and woman. Joan will be greatly missed by her son and daughter-in-law, Arthur and Linda Yanke; her daughter and son-in-law, Anna (Beth) and Michael Longolucco; six grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; brother and his wife, Hubert and Edythe Appleton; as well as many nieces and nephews. Much appreciation is extended to the extra love and attention given graciously by her niece Edie and husband Ray Merrill, and to the wonderful staff at Evergreen Health Care Center.
