John, I looked back at the many years that I shared with Joanne as a colleague and tennis partner, and I could only smile at the memories. She was a bright, strong lady who held herself and others to high standards. 'The best and the brightest' is who she was and what she represented in the classroom and in her life. Hopefully your special memories can bring you comfort.
Bob and I extend our sympathy to you and your family.

I had the honor of being taught, coached and mentored by Joanne at Tolland Middle and High School. She was my Field hockey, and Basketball coach. She gave so much encouragement to kids struggling with low self-esteem. I remember many conversations with her while traveling home from an away game. She really made you feel loved and that you had importance in her life.
I would keep in touch after I started college but unfortunately lost touch over the years. Please know that Joanne made a profound footprint on my life. I would not be the coach or teacher I am today without the confidence she instilled in me or the great role model she was.
My thoughts and prayers are with you, John, Penny and family.

Dear Mr. Sugros,
I've been sitting trying to think of the right thing to say, and still no words have come to mind. All I can say is what a joy it was to have your wife as my geometry teacher my freshman year of high school. I remember her giving me the award with a beaming smile for the highest grade average in the class. It was one that I can still picture in my head because I just knew that she was so proud. She gave me so much confidence and was always there to help if I needed it. I commend your amazing strength during this time and I know that you will make it through this challenging time. You will be in my thoughts, Arianna Jesanis
John-
We are so sorry for your loss.
Sincerely,
Tyler, Patrica & Family
I was so sad to hear that Mrs. Sugros had passed. I had her when I was in Tolland Middle school many years ago. She and Penny (high school) were two of my favorite teachers in the Tolland School system. My thoughts and prayers are with her family & friends.

John, I became quite sad when I heard of Joanne's passing. My heart goes out to you, your sister Penny, and Joanne's family.
No one's words can seemingly comfort that internal emptiness that one feels when you lose a loved one...Just know that she is not in pain anymore; not suffering....
I keep hearing your famous words "Keep The Faith",as I join with the many others who will miss her as you.
Love you Bro.
John,
It was always a pleasure working with Joanne at Tolland Middle School. She was a special person who loved her work and did wonderful things with her students in mathematics and then at the high school, Latin, too. I loved her banner at the front of the classroom: "Lefties have rights, too!" She could make you laugh. You are in our thoughts.
