14 years ago was the first time I met John. My mother in law introduced John to my husband and I while we were living in Rhode Island at the time. He was full of wit, very intelligent and a lot of fun to be around. He treated us with respect and even sat down with me to discuss some scientific articles, poetry and short stories I had written and encouraged me to keep writing. Once he joined my husband on a jeep wheeling event. Lol! There was lots of laughter then! He knew how to have fun, but also knew when to be serious. And if you were out of line, he would say so! He had a special place in our hearts. He was like part of the family. And we loved that he looked out for my husbands mom, Gay when she needed a true friend or companion. John will be missed. Especially that AWESOME singing voice! John, now you can sing as loud and as long as you want!! :-)
To John's family, my heart felt sympathy. He was such a great person with an enormous personality. I can only imagine what a wonderful father and grandfather he must have been and how much he will be missed by you all. I graduated high school with John. when John's named would appear on the internet-- My vision of him from " homeroom " would loom in front as the statesman --- and friend from that time !! The many times I encountered John, especially when he would substitute at the Middle School, I would enjoy his depth of knowledge, his understanding of people and his interest in good teaching. I know he will be missed for his long service and close involvement with the Town of Stafford.
I was deeply saddened to hear of the passing of my friend John. He was a loyal member of our VFW post for many years and I always enjoyed his camaraderie, distinguished wit and colorful story telling. He will be missed by many.
John was the best of friends. He was a man I could always count on, no matter what. We worked in politics together, share and supported each other through personal tragedies, and sometimes just had fun. John Hinchliffe you were special and I will miss you.
