John F. Kominski's Obituary
John F. Kominski, 88, formerly of Ellington, CT, husband of the late Etty (Hlasny) Kominski, passed away on Monday, September 15, 2014 at Rockville General Hospital following a brief illness. He was born in Stafford, CT, the seventh child of the late John F. Kominski, Sr. and Sophie (Gosier) Kominski. He spent his early years on the family farm in Staffordville, CT before joining the Army Air Corps in 1944. During World War II, he was a Sergeant in the 604th Tactical Control Squadron, serving a European tour of duty in Germany. In 1948 he graduated from the New York Technical Institute of New Jersey, and worked as an electronic technician until his retirement. He resided in the Crystal Lake section of Ellington for over 60 years. In his later years he learned to play golf and was a member of the Woodstock Golf Club. He enjoyed attending his grandchildren’s soccer, football, and baseball games. John is survived by his two daughters and sons-in-law, Cheryl and John Ferreira, and Karen and Brian Janiga, all of Ellington, CT; his loving grandchildren, Jennifer and Jason Ferreira, and Andrew Janiga and his wife Jo-Ann, Matthew and Neal Janiga. He is also survived by his brother, Edward Kominski; and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by six siblings, Joseph, Reuben, Walter, and Steve Kominski, and Bertha Guay and Annie Farr. John will be remembered as a kind person with a warm heart. He always made sure there was a place at the table for anyone who was not able to spend the holidays with their family. John’s family wishes to express their sincere appreciation to the kind and compassionate care provided by his most recent care givers Coreen and Patrick, and to all of the staff at The Village at The Buckland Court. A calling hour will be held on Saturday, September 20, 2014 from 9-10 A.M. followed by a funeral service at 10 A.M. at Introvigne Funeral Home, Inc., 51 East Main St., Stafford Springs, CT. Burial with Military Honors will follow in Grove Hill Cemetery, Vernon, CT. Memorial donations may be made to a charity of the donor’s choice.
