Joseph F. Peters, 79, of Ashford, CT, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, December 30, 2025. He was born in Northampton, MA, son of the late Francis and Mary (Stebbins) Peters. Joe is survived by his beloved wife of 54 years, Mar Read Obituary
Joe was a constant at UConn Women’s Basketball games back in the late 70’s when you could count the number of fans on your fingers/toes. He was the un-official photographer for the team, sharing many of his photos with the staff, players and their families. He is remembered fondly and will be missed. Some of the best memories I have with Joe and Marsha were the UConn women’s basketball game nights.. they invited me over whenever possible to cheer on the lady Huskies.Yes we watched the game but we also laughed, visited, enjoyed snacks and wine and just enjoyed each other's company. Some of my fondest memories of Ashford. Love you both very much..
THREE THINGS I REMEMBER MOST ABOUT JOE, THE GOOD TIMES WE HAD TOGETHER PLAYING BALL AS MY CATCHER AT ST MIKES AND BABE RUTH BALL WITH NORTHAMPTON NATIONAL BANK, HIS COMING TO NEW YORK TO DO OUR WEDDING PHOTOS AND FINALLY GIVING UP HIS TIME TO TAKE SOME WONDERFUL PICTURES AT MY PARENTS' 50TH WEDDING ANNIVERSARY CELEBRATION. I first met Joe years ago at the Willimantic Camera Center through our shared interest in photography then later through activities in our hometown of Ashford. I was always impressed by his cheerfulness and enthusiasm. My condolences to the family.

Mr.Peters was my English teacher, my baseball coach and my class advisor. He was larger than life, knew and paid attention to everyone, and was always so outgoing and cheerful. RIP Joe, you made a lot of people's lives better
