Joseph F. Pragl's Obituary
Joseph F. Pragl, 103, of Staffordville, CT, died peacefully the evening of September 30, 2017 at Evergreen Health Care Center. He was born December 3, 1913, in Winfield, Long Island, NY, to his parents Edward and Emma (Mertz) Pragl. At a very young age, he moved to Staffordville, CT where he spent the rest of his life. He attended local schools, and graduated from Windham Technical School, where he specialized in becoming an electrician. After having several jobs, including several years as a foreman in the Springfield Armory supporting the war effort, he spent the last 30 plus years working at Pratt and Whitney in East Hartford, CT. Joe enjoyed hunting and fishing, and especially his time at his place in Maine. He always enjoyed spending time with his family, sharing all the interests and activities of his children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. Joe was the first Boy Scout Master of Troop #50 in Staffordville, CT, and he was always very proud to talk about this position. He was very active in all the functions of the First Congregational Church in Staffordville, CT, and served as a deacon for many years. He was a member of the Odd Fellows Group, helped organize the Staffordville Community Center and was president for several years, and he was a member of the Stafford Fish and Game Club. He was predeceased by his wife of many years, Ina (Hathaway) Pragl, and a brother, Edward Pragl. Joe is survived by his two children, his daughter, Cheryl Herring, and his son, Harry Pragl and his wife Nancy, all of Staffordville, CT; four grandchildren, Jodie Campagnano and her husband Damian, Heidi Norchi and her husband Terry, Marcie Virgulto, and Teresa Henebry and her husband Matt; eight great grandchildren, Amber, Amanda, Victoria, Nicholas, Michael, Olivia, Caitlin and Beckett. A calling hour will be held on Tuesday, October 3, 2017 from 10-11 A.M. with a funeral service to take place at 11 A.M. at Introvigne Funeral Home, Inc., 51 East Main St., Stafford Springs, CT. Burial will follow in Stafford Springs Cemetery, Stafford Springs, CT. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to be made to Boy Scout Troop #50, c/o Ken Post, 11 Fiske Ave., Stafford Springs, CT 06076, or to a charity of choice.
