Joseph Satkowski's Obituary
Joseph Satkowski, 91, of Stafford Springs, CT, passed away on Monday, December 28, 2020. He was born in Staffordville, CT, son of the late Walter and Josephine (Nedwetta) Satkowski. Joe proudly served his country in the United States Army during the Korean Conflict. Joe retired in 1988 from Lehigh Gas Company, where he truly enjoyed his work for more than 34 years. Joe was the longest living member of the Stafford Fire Department No. 1, having joined the department at the age of 14 along side his life long friend, Harold Finch. Throughout his 77 years of service, he held several officer positions, including First Assistant Chief. Joe was a member of St. Edward Parish, Strazza, Tonoli-Emhoff Post No. 26 American Legion, and the Staffordville Rod and Gun Club. Above all, he loved his family and the time he was able to spend with them. Joe is survived by his two children, James Stevens and his wife Lilin, and Mary Tautic; daughter-in-law, Ann Satkowski; two grandchildren, Amy Dykstra and her husband Trey, and Timothy Satkowski and his wife Aimee; four great grandchildren, Ruby, Joey, Mia, and Jake; and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his wife of 69 years, Shirley (Kunhardt) Satkowski, just 18 days earlier; his son, David Satkowski; and seven siblings, Jenny, Laura, Steve, John, Ted, Wanda, and Pete. A graveside service will be held on Saturday, June 19, 2021 at 11 A.M. at St. Edward Cemetery, West Stafford Rd., Stafford Springs, CT.
