Kenneth R. Butler's Obituary
Kenneth “Kenny” R. Butler, 57, of Stafford Springs, CT, passed away on Thursday, September 14, 2017. He was born in Willimantic, CT, son of the late John S. and Catherine (Gillis) Butler. Kenny proudly served his country for over 38 years in the United States Army National Guard, doing tours in Iraq and Afghanistan. He also worked in quality assurance for the Department of Defense at the Army Aviation Support Facility. His passion was his family, his motorcycle and the soldiers and aircraft of 2-104 AVN (NOMADS). He was a member of the VFW Post 9990 and American Legion Post 26 of Stafford Springs, CT. Kenny is survived by his beloved wife of 23 years, Barbara Pepin; two children, Jannell (Vaughn) Smith and her husband Joshua of Burleson, Texas, and Derek Vaughn and his wife Alyssa of Yokota AFB Japan; grandson, Victor Vaughn; three siblings, Sharon Taylor and her husband Greg of Mansfield, CT, Rick Butler and his wife Barbara of Tolland, CT, and Sean Butler and his wife Carey of Coventry, CT; mother-in-law, Doris (Herzig) Pistol of Port Charlotte, FL; and several other extended family members including cousins, nieces, and nephews. Family and friends are invited to celebrate Kenny’s life on Thursday, September 21, 2017 at 5 P.M. at the Windsor Locks Readiness Center, 85-152 Light Lane, Windsor Locks, CT. The family would like to extend their gratitude to the oncology and hospice teams at the Veterans Hospital in West Haven for all their care and support.
